🚝 Travelling within Spain

Spain is a gorgeous country with so much culture to visit. Naturally, many Expats look at city brakes to get to know other areas of the country. There are a few ways to get around via shared transportation methods, depending on where in Spain you are. These are the most common:
Buses
There are companies like Flixbus and Alsa with lots of routes between cities in Spain. They are often the most affordable option.
Trains
The rail infrastructure in Spain is vast. There are high speed trains (AVE) as well as normal trains (slower but more affordable)  
Boat
In areas with coast, like the Balearic Islands or the South of the country, you can also travel by boat. A convenient way of traveling with pets and cars.
Car
You can rent a car in a city and drop it in another if you rent it from a big company. You can also consider cal pooling options like Bla Bla Car.

Your driving license is not the only thing you’ll need to have when driving in Spain. Here’s a list of other requirements for driving in Spain.
Personal Identification
The first and most important document you will be asked to provide is your ID. This can be your NIE or TIE if you’re living in Spain. Alternatively, it would be your passport.
Get a NIE
Proof of Insurance
All vehicle owners must have at least third-party liability insurance (Seguro de Responsabilidad Civil), which is the minimum legal requirement.
Vehicle Registration
Whether you rent or own a car, you will need to have the vehicle’s original registration documents from the Traffic Department (DGT - Dirección General de Tráfico).
Inspection Pass (ITV)
Cars must undergo periodic technical inspections by the ITV, to ensure they meet safety and environmental standards. Depending on the age of the car the period between inspections will vary.
