If you’re Opening your own Business

You can also move to the UAE with a Business Owner Visa. However, before you can apply for your Visa, you will need to set up the company in the country.
Step 1: Research your options
The first step is understanding what kind of business license you need, and where to incorporate your company (Freezone or Mainland). You can learn more about this in our Opening a Business Page.
Step 2: Apply for your Business License
Once you know when and where you are opening your company, you will need to submit all the necessary documentation, make your application and wait for your approval and official permit.
Step 3: Apply for your Visa and Emirates ID
Once your company is set up and approved you can apply for your Visa under it. Your Visa Process will be similar to an Employee (Work Visa). You can read more about this process in the below section.

If you’re moving as an Employee (Work Visa)

Generally, these are the steps you’ll need to take to get your Work Visa. However, please note that the visa application process varies from person to person as each employer has different operating procedures.
The first thing you need is a Job Contract
Step 1: Receive your UAE Entry Permit (or E-Visa)
You will need to formalise your employement before arriving in the UAE, and your employer shall submit your paperwork. Once this is approved, your employer will share your E-Visa, which you’ll need to use to you enter the UAE. You have two months to enter the UAE from the moment it’s issued. Upon entering, you have a period of 60 days to obtain a residence visa and formal work permit.
Step 2: Verify your ID and schedule your next appointments
Your employer, in coordination with their Visa agent, will need to indicate the next steps in your application once you are in the country. They may need to verify your ID and ask for your passport and stamped entry permit. They’ll be able to help you book your appointments for your medical examination (See Step Three) and your Biometrics (See Step Four)
Step 3: Undergo a medical examination
The UAE authorities require all foreigners to get a medical screening done, at an authorised clinic, in order to detect any kind of medical conditions. After you get the results, you’ll receive a Health Certificate.
Step 4: Submit your Biometrics
You will need to book an appointment with a service centre of the Federal Authority of Identity, Citenzenship, Customers and Ports Security (ICP).

During the appointment you will be asked to register your fingerprints and take a photo for your registry.
Step 5: Receive your Medical Insurance
Health insurance is mandatory for all the people in the UAE. Your employer will need to provide you with the details of your coverage and your Medical Insurance Card.
Step 6: Submit all your paperwork
Once you have all the required documents (Health Certificate, Medical Insurance Card, Work Permit and Biometric Submission) you, your employer or your visa agent will be able to submit your final paperwork to receive your Visa.
Step 7: Collect your Visa and Emirates ID
Your employer or visa agent will deliver these to you or instruct you on how/where to collect them.

How to Attest Official Documents

Attesting your degree or education certificate may be necessary during your Visa Application; or if you’re bringing your family with you to the UAE, you may also need to attest certain family documents like the birth certificates of your children or your marriage certificate.

This can be a difficult process, so most Expats opt for hiring an Attestation partner to do this for them. We have partnered with Vital Certificates, a reputable attestation agency, who will give you the best price if you come via us.
